Incident Reports

Incident Reports

The Incident Reports module allows server members and moderators to report issues directly through GuardTool. This helps moderators quickly review problems such as rule violations, harassment, or suspicious activity.

Incident reports are sent to a designated moderation channel where staff can review and respond appropriately.

How Incident Reports Work

When the module is enabled, users can submit reports about incidents happening in the server.

Once a report is submitted:

  1. GuardTool records the report.

  2. The report is sent to the configured incident reports channel.

  3. Moderators can review the report and take action if necessary.

Reports typically include useful details such as:

  • The user who submitted the report

  • The reported user

  • The reason for the report

  • The time the report was submitted

This helps moderators quickly understand the situation.

Submitting a Report

Users can submit an incident report using the report command.

Example:

GuardTool will guide the user through submitting the report by asking for information about the incident.

Configuring the Reports Channel

Server administrators must choose a channel where incident reports will be sent.

Example channel name:

To configure the channel, run:

Once configured, all reports will automatically be sent to the selected channel.

Moderator Actions

After receiving a report, moderators can review the information and decide what action to take.

Possible actions may include:

  • Warning the reported user

  • Muting or timing out the user

  • Kicking or banning the user

  • Monitoring the situation

GuardTool only delivers the report — the final decision always belongs to the server's moderation team.

Benefits of Incident Reports

The Incident Reports module helps servers:

  • Provide an easy way for members to report problems

  • Keep reports organized in one place

  • Help moderators respond faster to issues

  • Improve overall server safety

Important Notes

  • False or abusive reports may result in moderation action.

  • Reports should only be used for legitimate issues.

  • Only moderators should have access to the incident reports channel.
