Auto Moderation

AutoMod Module

The AutoMod (Automatic Moderation) Module is a GuardTool system that automatically detects and responds to rule violations in your Discord server.

AutoMod helps moderators by monitoring messages and member behaviour in real time, allowing GuardTool to take action before problems escalate.

The system is designed to reduce manual moderation while keeping communities safe and organized.

How AutoMod Works

When AutoMod is enabled, GuardTool continuously monitors server activity for behaviors that break configured rules.

If a violation is detected, GuardTool can automatically perform actions such as:

  • Deleting the offending message

  • Warning the user

  • Muting or timing out the user

  • Logging the incident for moderators

This allows issues to be handled instantly without requiring a moderator to be online.

AutoMod Protections

The AutoMod module may include several automated protections.

Spam Detection

Detects repeated or excessive messages sent in a short period of time.

Possible actions:

  • Message deletion

  • User warning

  • Temporary mute

Detects suspicious or potentially harmful links.

Possible actions:

  • Delete the message

  • Alert moderators

  • Log the event

Mention Spam

Prevents users from tagging large numbers of members in a short period of time.

Possible actions:

  • Remove the message

  • Warn the user

  • Temporarily mute the user

Word Filters

Blocks messages containing banned words or phrases configured by the server.

Possible actions:

  • Delete the message

  • Send a warning to the user

  • Log the violation

Incident Reports Integration

Certain AutoMod features can automatically create Incident Reports when serious violations are detected.

When this occurs, GuardTool will:

  1. Detect a major rule violation.

  2. Automatically generate an incident report.

  3. Send the report to the configured incident reports channel.

This helps moderators quickly review important moderation events without manually creating reports.

Examples of events that may trigger incident reports:

  • Severe spam activity

  • Repeated AutoMod violations

  • Suspicious behavior that requires moderator attention

Configuring AutoMod

Server administrators can configure AutoMod settings using GuardTool commands.

Example configuration command:

From there, administrators can:

  • Enable or disable protections

  • Adjust moderation actions

  • Configure logging or reporting behaviour

Benefits of AutoMod

The AutoMod Module helps servers by:

  • Automatically enforcing server rules

  • Reducing moderator workload

  • Detecting issues in real time

  • Providing detailed moderation logs

  • Creating incident reports for serious violations

Important Notes

  • AutoMod actions are designed to support moderators, not replace them.

  • Server administrators should configure protections to match their server's rules.

  • Some AutoMod detections may trigger automatic incident reports for moderator review.

✅ The AutoMod Module ensures GuardTool can actively protect your server while keeping moderators informed about important incidents.
