Global Ban System

Global Ban System

The Global Ban System is a security feature built into GuardTool that helps protect multiple Discord servers from users who repeatedly break rules or harm communities.

When a user is placed on the Global Ban List, they are automatically prevented from joining any server that uses GuardTool.

This system works automatically and does not require server administrators to enable it.

How the System Works

GuardTool maintains a central global ban list used across all servers running the bot.

When someone joins a server that uses GuardTool:

  1. GuardTool checks the user against the Global Ban List.

  2. If the user appears on the list, GuardTool will automatically remove them from the server.

  3. The action will be logged in the server's moderation or security logs.

This process happens instantly when a member joins.

Who Can Add Users to the Global Ban List?

Global bans are not automatically created when a server bans someone.

Instead, servers must contact the GuardTool team if they believe a user should be globally banned.

This helps ensure the system is not abused and that bans are applied fairly.

To request a global ban, server owners or moderators must provide:

  • The User ID of the reported user

  • Evidence of rule violations

  • A brief explanation of the situation

The GuardTool team will then review the report.

Reasons for a Global Ban

Users may be added to the global ban list for serious offenses such as:

  • Organizing or participating in Discord server raids

  • Running spam or scam bots

  • Large-scale harassment

  • Repeated malicious activity across multiple servers

  • Attempting to compromise server security

Only serious cases are considered to maintain fairness.

Example Scenario

Example:

  1. A user raids Server A.

  2. The server bans the user.

  3. The server owner submits a global ban request to the GuardTool team with evidence.

  4. The GuardTool team reviews and approves the request.

  5. The user is added to the Global Ban List.

  6. If that user attempts to join any server using GuardTool, they will be automatically removed.

Important Notes

  • The system is automatic across all GuardTool servers.

  • Server administrators cannot directly add users to the global ban list.

  • All global bans are reviewed by the GuardTool team before being applied.

This ensures the system remains fair, accurate, and resistant to abuse.
